Ed Sheeran Quietly Admits His New Hit is not Wholly Original

The English singer and songwriter seems to have quietly adjusted the writing credits for Shape Of You, a song which has been number one in Australia for ten weeks, to include the writers of the song No Scrubs, a hit for TLC more than 20 years ago. According to the BBC, official publishing details for the song, which initially only credited Sheeran and his co-writers Steve Mac and Johnny McDaid, now include the writers of No Scrubs, Kandi Burruss and Tameka Cottle, as well as the song’s producer Kevin Briggs. Sheeran, who at one stage this year had the top three songs on the Australian chart, and whose new longplayer, Divide, has topped album charts around the world with sales in the UK alone going past one million, is no stranger to discussions of shared inspiration.
